Transnational Organised Crime in New Zealand

We collaborate with New Zealand Police and the New Zealand Customs Service, to counter transnational organised crime.

Through the provision of Signals Intelligence we provide lead information to prevent the importation of illicit drugs to New Zealand.  Through this work, we aim to better inform New Zealand Police and New Zealand Customs investigations and their disruption efforts before drugs are smuggled into our country.

We are a contributing partner to the New Zealand Police-led Transnational Organised Crime (TNOC) Strategy.

The TNOC strategy sets out a coordination and prioritisation framework that guides government agencies in their response to transnational organised crime across a wide range of crime types. It also seeks to strengthen capability, improve understanding and raise awareness across relevant government agencies, the private sector and local communities in order to unify, prevent, detect and dismantle organised crime.

While the strategy focusses on system resilience, legislative settings, and prevention, across government it also includes building community resilience to the harms associated with organised crime.

An action plan is being developed to implement the strategy, which includes a major focus on the sophisticated global network of organised criminal groups that drive the supply of drugs and other illicit commodities into New Zealand. This will be used to create an annual work programme.
