Proactive information releases

Here you can find information we have proactively released.

We try to be as transparent as possible, but sometimes we redact or withhold material because it reveals too much about what we know and what we can do. Disclosing too much could identify individuals or compromise national security.

We always balance the need to protect our information with the public’s legitimate expectation that we are as transparent as possible.

Cabinet material

Government policy generally requires agencies to release Cabinet material within 30 business days of Cabinet considering that material, although there are grounds for exceptions to this timeframe.

We will not always be able to release Cabinet material due to provisions under the Official Information Act 1982. You can read more about this in the Protective Security Requirements.

Issue-specific information releases

For areas where there’s a high degree of public interest, the GCSB may choose to publish an information release.
